How to make money with your music

This video will show you the tips I have applied to make money with my music. Keep in mind that the prices shown here are simply examples of what I have seen in my own experience. Remember that this requires a lot of work, even though some prices might seem very high, there are many many hours involved in preparing lessons, filming, editing, and so on… Online lessons: www.davidwallimann.com Backing tracks: www.guitarplayback.com

  • @joshuaaadavid There are copyright issues unfortunately. That’s why I only create original tracks for guitarplayback(dot)com

  • Hey Walliman, question: If you make backing tracks to other peoples’ music and sell them is that legal? Or is ok as long as it is not exactly the same as the original?

  • @cosmicowboy111 Thanks!

  • Thanks man great suggestions a couple I was unaware of …

  • @MrROTD It does take a lot of thinking outside of the box. Times have changed, you are right1
However I think that it still is quite possible to make a living if you are creative…

  • It’s hopeless to be an indy musician unless you can tour around and play lots of Gigs no-one will notice you and therefore you will never make a living just sitting in your home studio. I have liscenced one song so far but not ONE sale through online dostro. It’s very heartbreaking because I know that my music is better than most

  • @ItsHellasNotGreece don’t worry about it, keep trying and doing what you’re doing. You’re only 14 have some patience.

  • @yoonjoonso Myspace music did that to me too, I was getting 300 plays a day and then all of a sudden 3 or 4. Big companies like Myspace and Youtube don’t want to help indy musicians.

  • @Sweeper5 Great suggestion!

  • Very cool ideas. Another one is to contact local radio stations. They are always making audio advertisements for local businesses, and those all need some kind of background music. Most musicians with DAW’s and midi can produce suitable tracks for this, and also can write “custom jingles” for a fee. Even though jingles are silly and ass-stupid to record, they still do produce a little more income.

  • @atson67 Good point. :-D

  • So you make your money with teaching (which is fine), but NOT with your music.

  • @ItsHellasNotGreece You are not going to be taken seriously any time soon, dont even think you will get taken serious as a musician as a whole anyway. most countries their people see musicians as people who get by on government funding, so there will always be a bit of a setback teaching.

  • @Wallimann lol for real!!

  • @yoonjoonso IHappened to me several times too. After a few emails they got it fixed though.

  • Youtube took down a revenue I was earning with my OWN MUSIC that I made from scratch claiming I don’t have the proper etc.

  • i am a 14 year old teenager and i can teach piano and guitar to younger kids…….. i have made my own fast learning method.. BUT NO ONE TAKES SERIOUSLY A 14 YEAR OLD TEENAGER.. its so unffailr and annoying

  • Just try to get youtube partner and make a video every week :D

  • @bowlingfor1 eh, 20 to 30 I think is normal for recordings or music lessons. As far a lessons though, most only take one or two lessons a week. Recordings though can bust the wallet really fast lol.

  • @SolDiez90 Try live4guitar(dot)com :-)

  • Really nice tips. I was thinking of auditioning for guitarmasterclass but I’ve only been playing for 5 years + I need to look older. Can you recommend some other websites where I could teach online? google searching hasn’t been that helpful.

  • Thanks man :D

  • @ynyslochtyn bills?

  • Art for art sake
    money for . . .

  • @marchofthepiggs Yeah you can, but the key is really to have a fanbase. Youtube is a great way to build one!
